Search Process Timeline (from Jan 2012 forward)
- Search Committee meets with the Canon to the Ordinary to discuss next steps- January 3, 2012
- Parish “profile” published in diocesan web site and St Peter’s web site – January 2012
- Applicants submit applications to the Diocese – January 2012 until March 28, 2012
- Search Committee reviews applications and narrows field – April 2012
- Search Committee conducts Discernment Conversations with select applicants, through telephone or Skype interviews (April 2012)
- Search Committee narrows field after first round of Discernment Conversations (April 2012)
- Search Committee asks Canon to the Ordinary to prescreen finalist candidates through phone calls to his peers and other informal means (April 2012-May 2012)
- Search Committee brings select candidates and their spouses or partners to Charlotte for face-to-face interviews and interaction with the Search Committee (May 2012 – June 2012)
- Search Committee narrows field after in-person interviews
- Bishop Curry interviews candidates in final pool of 3-5 candidates
- Search Committee members visit top candidates at their home parishes
- Search Committee meets with vestry and recommends one name
- Vestry conducts a Discernment Conversation (in-person interview) with that priest
- Senior Warden phones Diocesan Bishop for verbal permission to call
- Vestry asks Canon to the Ordinary to initiate Oxford Document Background Check
- Vestry calls priest and negotiates Letter of Agreement with assistance of the Canon
- Vestry writes Diocesan Bishop to request written permission to call
- Rector, Sr. Warden, Canon and Bishop sign the Letter of Agreement
- New rector is announced
