An audition will be required of any student who is interested in joining one of the choirs. Auditions for membership are held in May and June. A successful audition results in acceptance into The Choir School for the following season starting with camp/retreat in August.
Auditioning for the Town and Touring ChoirsNo formal experience is required or expected to enter the Town Choirs (approximate ages 7 – 10), but a love of singing and an interest in music is important. Members of the Touring Choirs are expected to have some music reading and vocal skills. During the audition, the child will be asked to: sing a familiar song; demonstrate pitch matching, rhythm clapping, and reading skills; and have a conversation about his or her interests, etc. To schedule an audition for your child call or email Kay Johnson at 704-749-6146 or kjohnson@st-peters.org Auditioning for The MastersingersEligible candidates for The MasterSingers are boys with changed voices and girls in high school. The audition will include singing a prepared solo, sight-singing an unknown piece of music, and demonstrating knowledge of music theory. Members of the MasterSingers must be able to make a long-term commitment and must have a high level of self-discipline.
